I think the problem is those in the internet marketing world understand confirmation e-mails and double opt-in and all that malarkey but the general public don't. They just don't get why they should effectively ask again for the information they just asked for, and I don't blame them!
I don't use AWeber but I assume it takes people to a thank you page. Are you able to customise that so that it tells people they will get a confirmation e-mail and this is to protect them from spam etc? Or does it already do that? I use GetResponse and send people to a thank you page on my own site. Very basic but it means I can say what I like on there. Setting it up is a bit like building an MFI wardrobe. You need to make sure you have part C before you attach A to B ...
