Advice Please!

I joined up as an affilliate about 3 or 4 weeks ago after finding this on the web one night. Initially I researched it all and it sounded so prosperous I joined straight away. After putting quite a lot of time, effort and investment (b.cards, brochures, dvd's etc.) in to it, going at it pretty hard for a couple of weeks, emailing prospects, dropping letterboxes, chatting to people, I even advertised in my local rag at £150!
So far I have 2 players and I'm starting to get a bit frustrated at my lack of interest/members!
Any advice to what I am doing wrong or not doing right would be appreciated.
Also, I read a few posts on advertising on Monster/Metro etc.. I realise I'm too late for this but I'd be keen to be kept informed/counted in for any of this in the future, what would I need to do?

Any help greatly appreciated as I am really keen to work on this as I've been looking for an opportunity like this for a long time.

Many Thanks,
Kieran.

Hey Kieran,

I would start by saying persistance is needed as you must remember the first time you see something you might not notice it, after several times seeing somthing you start to notice.

I don't think I would have put an advert in the paper for £150. There are much better ways of advertising than that.

I would suggest going to middle class area in your town/city and put flyers through their letter box. A week later try again. You could even knock on the door and talk to them as well.

This business works better the closer you are to the customer.

Best wishes, G

do u know i was thinking about this today. Within a 2 mile radius around where i live we have a really posh areas and really council house estate ares - which would be best to put a flyer through?? On one hand you think, why would someone who owns a £750,000+ house want to win £1000 but someone who lives in a council house would have more of an interest i would think

what does everyone else think?

i don't think it matters either way, they may have a big house but they still have bills to play like all of us.

If you know which activity the 2 players came from, do more of that, and try and do it better. If you don't know, then you need to track your results. It doesn't matter how much you persist if an approach fundamentally isn't working - tracking and testing are crucial to any marketing.

It's also better to do one thing well than a dozen badly, so I'd suggest focussing on one or two methods, studying more about them - then keep improving and testing.

Hi Kieran

a very warm welcome to VWD.

Without doubt you have made the best possible decision to join this amazing business.

The best advice I can give you is to never pre-judge anyone... including where they live.

You never know who's behind that door, whether its a big posh house or a block of council flats makes absolutely no difference at all.
It all depends on how much that person wants to make changes to their life.

If they're poor, they've got good reason to want to make more money or win the lottery and if they're rich they can afford to invest more in your business.

Don't be put off by the flash new car in the drive... they say the bigger the house the bigger the debt! (and it's most likely to be a company or lease car anyway)

Put out some frogging cards, DVD's and leaflets to literally everywhere you go and to everyone you speak to... and most importantly, learn how the "e-lottery multi-win system" works too, so you can be very confident that what you have to offer really is as good as you're saying it is!

People can sense it when you're unsure of what you're talking about.. and naturally it makes them unsure too... trust me, I've fumbled my way through enough times to know!

Just start doing something consistantly and it will start to pay consistantly.

Good luck in the next draw.
